Steal A Tree Index Guide: What It Tracks and How to Fill It
What the Steal A Tree Index is, which collections feed it (trees, rare fruit, mutations, pets), how the steal-plant-juice loop registers tree discoveries, and free Steps codes that speed collection progress.
The Index is Steal A Tree's long-term completion goal: the official game description asks whether you can "build the greatest fruit empire and complete the entire Index." The tracked collection spans the trees you plant, the rare fruit they drop, mutations, and pets — and since pets and mutations sit on top of the tree and fruit work, filling the Index takes real time. Treat the Index as a checklist of everything discoverable rather than a fixed published catalogue: the fastest progress comes from stealing, planting, and juicing every tree type you can get your hands on.
Trees by rarity: the core collection entries
Your planted trees are the core of what the Index tracks. You don't choose what a sapling becomes — it grows into whatever tree it was going to be, and rarity is revealed on the way up. Confirmed examples span the range:
| Tree | Rarity |
|---|---|
| Apple Tree | Common |
| Strawberry Tree | Common |
| Plum Tree | Epic |
| Pear Tree | Legendary |
How tree entries register: steal, plant, grow, juice
Every tree entry in the collection comes through the core loop:
- Leave your base through the safe-zone exit; the run only starts when you cross the SAFE ZONE boundary.
- Find a sapling in the active zone and pick it up — while carrying it you are visible and targetable, and gnomes that catch you knock you down and take the sapling with no recovery.
- Run the sapling back to your plot, equip it from your hotbar, and plant it in an empty farm slot. It matures on its own timer; your first is usually a common Apple Tree.
- Wait for fruit to drop. Grown trees shed fruit automatically into the FRUIT JUICE VAT, which converts it into juice.
- NPC customers buy the juice for cash — your entire income stream, so planted-tree count is what matters most.
Free saplings and progress that feed the collection
Free income and collection progress come from three places, all worth claiming the moment they light up: daily rewards (starting Day 1 on first login), playtime rewards that tick over with cash, speed, and saplings, and numbered quest chains cleared passively — including Plains Sapling Hunter and Flowerfield Sapling Hunter for saplings stolen by type. Saplings come in named varieties such as Plains Sapling and Flowerfield Sapling, both available as quest and playtime rewards.
Speeding up collection with codes (free Steps)
Codes accelerate the grind toward Index completion by cutting early waiting time. As of September 2026 the working code is "Welcome" (1k Steps), with no expired codes reported. To redeem: open Steal A Tree and wait for your base to load, tap the Shop button, find the code box at the very bottom, and type the code exactly as written. Codes will not finish the Index for you, but they cut the boring early wait so you can focus on mutations, pets, and juicing. New codes are posted mainly in the official Discord server, so recheck the list after each update.
