Steal A Tree Gear Guide: Shovel, Bat & Bear Trap

What gear exists in Steal A Tree, how the Gear Shop works, and what the Shovel, Bat, and Bear Trap are confirmed to do — plus what isn't known yet.

Your inventory in Steal A Tree isn't limited to saplings. Three gear items are confirmed so far: a Shovel that costs 1,000 cash in the Gear Shop, plus a Bat and a Bear Trap that appear as usable hotbar items. The exact in-game effects of all three aren't established, so effects need checking in-game after updates.

Confirmed gear items and hotbar presence

Players' inventories are not limited to what you plant. A Bear Trap and a Bat show up as usable hotbar items alongside your saplings — screenshots show the Bat, Bear Trap, and a Plains Sapling equipped together. The Bat can be selected in the hotbar while doing other activities, such as gathering juice.

How to obtain gear: the Gear Shop

The Shovel is acquired through the Gear Shop, one of four shops off the main menu (alongside the Trail Shop, Pet Shop, and Ticket Shop), and costs 1,000 cash. The acquisition method for the Bat and Bear Trap is not currently documented. Note that not all purchasable stock in the game is bought with plain cash: the Ticket Shop gates its stock behind its own requirements.

The game's own listing description references buying upgraded tools to troll other players, suggesting additional tool tiers exist beyond the Shovel, Bat, and Bear Trap. No upgraded tool names, costs, or effects are documented yet, so check the Gear Shop in-game after updates for anything new.

What isn't established about Steal A Tree gear

  • The effect or use case of the Shovel beyond being a purchasable Gear Shop tool
  • The effect of the Bat or Bear Trap (whether they stun, knock down, or slow anything)
  • Prices and stock for gear items other than the 1,000-cash Shovel
  • How the Bat and Bear Trap are obtained (Gear Shop, quests, playtime rewards, or otherwise)
  • Whether additional gear items exist beyond the three confirmed items
  • Which gear items are worth obtaining
