Steal A Tree Saplings: Types, How to Get and Plant Them

The named saplings in Steal A Tree right now, where Plains and Flowerfield Saplings come from, how planting works, and which quests track them.

Steal A Tree currently has two named saplings: the Plains Sapling and the Flowerfield Sapling. Both come as free rewards from quests and playtime rather than purchases — no shop or code source for saplings is documented.

Confirmed sapling types and where they come from

Two sapling varieties are named in current coverage: the Plains Sapling and the Flowerfield Sapling. Both turn up as free rewards rather than purchases — they come from quests and playtime rewards. As current guidance puts it: "The game is generous with free saplings through quests and playtime, so a slow start usually fixes itself long before the Golden Treadmill comes into reach."

The full sapling list isn't pinned down yet, and it may grow with updates — but these two are what players can reliably farm through free streams.

How planting a sapling works

  1. Leave your base through the safe-zone exit. Nothing can be stolen inside the SAFE ZONE, so every run starts at the boundary.
  2. Find a sapling in the active zone and pick it up. You carry it visibly, which makes you a target — gnomes only chase you while you hold a sapling, and if one catches you, the sapling is gone with no recovery.
  3. Run the sapling back to your plot, equip it from your hotbar, and plant it in an empty farm slot. It matures on its own timer into a full tree — the first planted tree is usually a common Apple Tree.
  4. Grown trees shed fruit automatically into the FRUIT JUICE VAT, which converts it to juice that NPC customers buy for cash.

What a sapling grows into and plot capacity

You do not choose the outcome of a planted sapling: "You don't choose what a sapling becomes. It grows into whatever tree it was going to be, and rarity is revealed on the way up." The resulting trees span every rarity band — confirmed examples include Apple Tree and Strawberry Tree (Common), Plum Tree (Epic), and Pear Tree (Legendary) — but no named sapling maps to a specific resulting tree.

Plot space matters too: "Expanding the plot before you have saplings waiting is wasted money, and stockpiling saplings you can't plant is wasted running."

Quests and free reward streams tied to saplings

  • Plains Sapling Hunter and Flowerfield Sapling Hunter — numbered quest chains that track saplings stolen by type.
  • Playtime rewards tick over while you stay in the server and pay out cash, speed, and saplings.
  • Daily rewards start at Day 1 on your first login — cash-adjacent free income worth claiming.
  • Other quest chains (Coin Collector 1–3, Juice Seller 1–3, Upgrade Master 1–2) run in numbered chains you clear passively; they are not sapling-specific.
